what does “CSA” stand for?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. To learn more details read on below!
What is a CSA?
A CSA consists of a group of members who come together to support a farm by purchasing "shares" in advance, before the growing season gets underway. Members also share the risks associated with farming and poor harvests due to unpredictable weather conditions, pests, natural disasters, etc. In return for their commitment, members receive a bountiful share of what we harvest throughout the growing season and gain knowledge and satisfaction of being able to participate in local agriculture and the local food system. By purchasing direct from our farm, members support their local economy, foster community support, join us in becoming stewards of the land, help pay our crew members, and help local small farms like us continue to operate.
What does being a CSA member entail?
As a CSA member you pay up front for your share, commit to picking up your share on a weekly basis at our pick up location, and share the risks and rewards that we, farmers, face each growing season. In return you get the very best our farm has to offer every week of the CSA season. To see if being a CSA member is a good fit for you & your family, we recommend taking our Is CSA Right for Me? Quiz.
What will be in my share?
You can see some example images of shares on their information pages (all linked in the menu at the top left of this page).
Once you join, you will receive a weekly newsletter a couple of days before each pick up showing you what to expect in your share that week.
I signed up for the CSA. When does it begin?
The approximate start date is included in the share information right here on our website (click the link in the menu at the top left of this page). Because the weather can be volatile and directly affects whether our crops are ready, we will announce the exact start date for you share in your email newsletter (so be sure you’re receiving and reading those!).
I’m signed up for the CSA and haven’t received any emails. What should I do?
We send all of our email newsletters using MailChimp. First check your Spam folder and your Promotions tab (if you use Gmail). To avoid having them filtered out, please make sure to add our contact email (hello@evenpullfarm.com) to your contacts. If you don’t find an email in those places, you can shoot us an email and we will troubleshoot on our end.
I’m signed up for the CSA but I missed the link to submit payment. Where do I go to pay?
We are accepting payment all through our online store this year. You can click HERE to submit your deposit or pay the balance on your share.
If Pick Up falls on a holiday should I still come get my share?
We have built in vacation weeks to accommodate the main summer holidays of the 4th of July & Labor Day, when members are frequently out of town. If you are in the CSA, please refer to your email newsletter where we will share important scheduling details with you!
I’m going on vacation, can I pick up my share on a different day?
If you will be out of town, we encourage you to send a friend or neighbor to pick up your share in your place. Unfortunately we cannot offer alternate pick up days as our schedule is truly jam-packed during the farming season. Thanks in advance for your understanding.
Can I purchase extra vegetables or flowers at pick up?
Sadly no, the van is already pretty dang full on our delivery days! If you need extra veggies or flowers, we encourage you to visit our Farmers Market booth on Thursdays. You can learn more about that HERE.
